it looks like she's pooping her intestine. *New Questions*

I'm really rooting for your girl. What about some yogurt, scrambled eggs, probiotics maybe? Sounds like the enema thing may work too.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I think the enemas have helped. I just checked on her, and i saw actual poop in the bottom of the container. It's not 'normal' poop, but it's better than what she has been producing. She's still struggling a little, but this is an improvement. So i'm thinking another enema in 30-60 minutes and then probably a warm bath.

Well, sadly, i think i am going to have to do the painful-for-me thing.

I have given her several enemas, a warm bath, etc. She won't drink the molasses water, and she won't eat the eggs. She starts to, but then she spits them back out. A few minutes after her bath, her insides were sticking right back out again.

She's alarmingly skinny, which makes me think this has been going on for a while, and i just didn't know it.

Maybe i'll give it another 30 minutes or so. If she miraculously starts eating and pooping, i won't have to do this, but if she doesn't, i just don't see letting her continue to starve and suffer.

Well Punkin, know that if you have to do the painful-for-you thing, you're doing the right thing for your girl. You've gone above and beyond what most people would have done for her, and I hope that makes you feel better about it. I honestly believe animals know way more than we give them credit for, she has probably stopped eating and drinking because she knows something is wrong with her. Whatever is wrong with her insides has probably made it painful or impossible to eat/swallow, and she has probably given up.

Bless your heart, I feel your pain...you're in my thoughts!

Thanks.

She's gone. I buried her under a tree behind the coop.

Wasn't really in the mood to kill anyone today. (sarcasm) This stinks. I'm so thankful that the Lord helps me.

I tried to keep mine alive too but had the same outcome. I didn't want to say before but it seems survivors of this sort of thing are very few and far between...you did great by her!

PunkinPeep,

I'm so sorry you lost your little girl!

You were very brave while you tried to help her - and she knows you tried. You are a wonderful Chicken Mom!

I hope your loss/ordeal a little less painful today
