It's going to be super cold.

I put up a heat lamp in the peas shelter yesterday. It isn't really that cold, but I figure Snow White will appreciate some extra heat. She has been looking cold.

Anyways I checked on the light today to make sure it was still positioned correctly and I was wondering if they actually roosted in their shelter last night, and I saw some fresh poop on top of the nest box which is under one of the roosts so I figured someone did roost there last night, but when I got closer it looked like coon poop. Then I noticed that in every single nest box there was a pile of raccoon poop and some of it was moldy meaning that it has been there for a while and I just hadn't noticed until now!!! UHHHH!!!!!! Well, now that I have learned how to program trail cameras, I am going to put one up in the pen. I don't know if we have any available cameras right now though because we have several on some food plots. Man I need to hurry up and build those new pens so we can put some hot wire around everything. I guess for now the coon is just eating left over bird food?
You are going to be very surprised what you catch on that trail cam, i have 3 and i can set them up on any given day and get some kind of critter running around not a 300 feet from where my birds roost.

My poor peas did not sleep well last night, i don't know how some of them stayed up on those limbs being blown around, poor things been around the house all day sleeping and begging for treats when i walk by.

They didn't even go to their garden which they do every day

This is the small building all on concrete that my 2013 hatched small peas are in.You can see the huge drift in front of the outside pen. All inside was okay, seems there was several groups scattered around and none was under the heat lites until I filled the feed bowl up.

Good Lord, it looks like the Sierra Nevada's should! You have more snow than the California and Nevada ski resorts at 8000 feet have!

This was taken down our driveway. You can see a pass has just been made by our newly elected road comissioner but out by the mailbox is where it will accumilate 3' deep in a hurry. You can also see how strong it's blowing snow across the field from the driveway. Not much to slow the wind down out here on the flat prarie. Used to be hedgerows along both sides of the roads in the olden days, was great for moving cattle and fencing in animals but I can imagine the drifts they would have created too.

This is the Palace. This drift is huge and very deep.I dreaded carrying water and feed out tonight but that don't get the job done.Funny, about the first half was so packed down I didn't break thru but the last 30' or so was knee deep with every step.Everyone inside was fine,as expected. Suprisingly the wind was strong enough no snow built up on the top netting, which I was concerned about a few days ago when the forecasts first starting coming out for this.

Here is another view of the drift in front of the Palace looking more to the north. The brown coop is where I have my 2012 hatched birds at. Notice it is still blowing above the drift? Wind chills here this afternoon of 50 below and more.
