I've never had an experience this bad with a hatchery before...Randall Burkey Company?

We order from McMurray and Cackle and haven't had any problems with them. I am so sorry to hear about your horrible experience

What is their policy on failed batches? I had a failed batch from a hatchery last year. They not only replaced the whole order, but did it twice for me. We had about half the first batch die on week 3. None had died in the first 48 hour gaurantee. All deaths occured during their third week. I had paid for a cocci vacination and they started dieing from cocci. I was able to save about half of them, but the hatchery replaced all of them anyway, and they replaced them quickly. I would expect and accept nothing less. My hatchery is McMurry's and since they have always been good to me they have my loyalty as a consumer. They always have gone beyond my expectations.

They told me they would replace what they could and refund the rest.

We lost somewhere around 45 chicks plus 8 missing from the original 100. So far, no deaths since Saturday however, and other than being the most dirty butted chicks I've ever had, everyone is healthy.

We had friends over who picked up a couple of the chicks to pet them before I could warn them which ones were fading, and had one die in their hands. Put a real damper on dinner. I'm having a heck of a time finding the chicks I want, looks like I'll have to do my own hatch.

Are there no breeders within your area that could help you out? I'm so sorry for your losses and would be madder than a wet hen! What they have done is NOT acceptable in my book either. Have you tried an internet search for sussex breeders within your range? I just know that up here, we have a forum where many of us trade off breeds and buy and sell regularily. That is how I am getting my birds. Yes, I may have to drive a couple hours, but know mine will be healthy, happy an I will have support for them.

How disappointin for you-and maddening.

My Pet Chicken is also a drop shipper, I believe that they use Meyer most of the time. Very sad that you had to go through this. IMO they could have done a better job replacing them. Did you order strait run originally? I know this is the busy part for chick ordering. I hope you get some healthy birds in the end.
