Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

I have some interesting stories about my hatch...which is still not over. Going on 5 days now. Ugh!!! I didn't expect this, but it's still a thrill. I'll keep you all updated. I just have to say that I feel like I brought home a newborn infant...I'm not sleeping, I hurt (mainly my kneecaps from kneeling over the bator) I'm hungry, I constantly worry, I can hear baby sounds in my head even at the grocery store! Someone bring me a casserole stat!! :th
Alright, here is a sample of my babies..,which I bred an ameraucana black roo with a brown leghorn to get this black beauty!!!!, a French blue copper maran, a blue Wheaton ameraucana, a black copper maran.

Need opinions....
We have 4 eggs on day 21. We can see one internal pip and that chick is still alive. The rest we can't tell. They have something in them but no visible pips.

This is fine, we can be patient to see if they make it. The problem is we have another batch of eggs ready to go in. Will the higher humidity for a couple days affect the new eggs negatively? Is it ok to put them in there or should we wait a few days?

I'm not at all experienced with hatching yet my opinion and only mine is to wait. Remember that they are in lockdown and opening the bator to place the new ones can affect humidity. It's just 21 days. By tomorrow they should hatch

I will wait until at least tomorrow night but I don't want to wait too long because some of the eggs have already sat for days.
I guess I'll wait until the morning of the 23rd day then anything unhatched will get the float test then disposal of anything that doesn't show signs of life.

Baby Pics :) we ended up with three and all three pretty different question though, I heard that if they get there wing feathers in quicker then they are probably males is that true? Also anybody have any idea what breed of chickens produce yellow chicks?

On some breeds the first day you can do wing sexing. The feathers will have a shorter row on the males. It is only reliable on some breeds though.
Yellow chick = white or buff. Once the wing feathers start coming in you'll be able to see the difference.
