Jan. Hatch A Long?

We started 12 Rhodebar and 4 super blue layer eggs we got from DMRipley on Wednesday. Thank goodness she shipped them last Saturday and were received by Monday - just before the cold came in or otherwise we would have had frozen eggs from the arctic air. We let them sit for a few days before placing them in the bator. Did not switch turner on until yesterday to hopefully help with wonky air cells. Her packaging was excellent. Somewhere around the 29 we hope to have some more chicks. We only have two Rhodebar cockerals that we hatched last year. Lost 6 of 8 through the summer. Those boys are needing some girls. Hopefully we will get some in this hatch.

I just hatched some Rhodebars from DMRipley. They were sent for the NYD hatch a long. That was when the artic cold was all over the country. Those eggs were cold! But, I got two babies and a marans that she sent.

It looks like a boy and a girl, but, as the two Rhodebars have grown, the little light one had a chipmunk stripe on it's back, and looks to be a little pullet now. No white spot on the head.

Man, didn't expect to see any action on this thread. There's a bit.

Glad to hear about your success. My DH said he has a good feeling about this batch of eggs. Our first ever hatch in April last year was successful, but the following two we complete bust. I am really hoping for the Rhodebar and for that matter the blue eggs because I want to add blue eggs to our egg sales. We are getting alot of return customers. Fortunately, our hens only stopped laying this past year for either brooding or molting, which is to be expected. They have not skipped a beat even with this cold wet weather. We do not heat their coops nor provide artificial lighting. Need to breed those girls to continue with their good genetics.

I've got eggs set to hatch on the 19th, my plan is to have a hatch on all my holidays from work. 2nd hatch ever, but I'm addicted already.

I am hatching some again got a replacement incubator with silkies, frizzles, 1blrw that made it and some lavender orps going in tonight more silkies and seramas in few days. Got buff silkies in and 5 out of 5 are growing great so far(2 weeks) what great shipped eggs. So excited I love this hatching madness of mine and glad the hubby doesn't mind.

Trying to find a hatch a long to join. The ones that have 50 million people in them overwhelm me because I can't keep up.

I've been around chickens most of my life but have very little experience incubating eggs.
I just set;
7x Splash x Blue Marans
5x Marans x EE
5x Splash x Black Copper Marans
8x Cream Legbar x Black Copper Marans
2x Cream Legbar x ?
