Janoel Incubation Experience

SO I'm at that point.

I'm right at lockdown. Found 2 had quit. I'm on the verge of, "Oh my GOD! What if I have screwed this whole thing up!? What if none of them hatch?!"

I used a different thermometer on this incubation and it read that I needed to lower my temp significantly from last time (my hatch was 2 days early last time) Last time i ran at 37.6. This time I ran at 37.3 and STILL my thermometer said I was high. Second guessing everything.

This time I got eggs from some friends. I have had 6 quitters! BUT all of my eggs that were fertile have done great? Weight loss is good... air sacs look bigger than last time... handled them less.

Started w 42 and only 15 made it to lockdown. Glad I work tomorrow.

Now I just pray!
Uhg! This is the worst most brain exhausting part.

By the sounds of it, you are on your way to a good % hatch. Sorry about the 2 quitters! You win some, you lose some. I guess at this point it's survival of the fittest.
Maybe you should put a pad lock on your incubator and give someone the key lol, "Dont give me the key till day 23!"

You know, we had a baby 2 months ago.. I swear I am more exhausted from "lockdown" and "hatching" then I was with the first few days with baby.

I cant wait to see your little ones!

I'm praying for you and them! I am also praying that you fight the temptation to open it! HAHA!

GOOD LUCK!

Has anyone ever had a 100% hatch?

Great photos! SOOOO sweet. You must be using a real camera. We recently got one and it has made pictures fun again. Cell phones aren't quite good enough!

With my Pekin ducks all the time. That's why it was so disappointing for me with the chicks....Good luck on your up and coming hatch Heron's nest got my fingers crossed for you!
Well my incubator is still empty I almost brought some Muscovy eggs but changed my mind lol. The local turkey breeder said his turkeys won't lay again till closer to summer (its just started autumn here) so I might just have to enjoy your pictures.
Love the pictures of the new babies wildfiresmitty!

Thanks Lyss! wish they would stay like that forever.

So I found these 2 suckers in the coop today.
From my experience I am going to call these both double yolkers. I am sooooo pumped! why?
Because i'm going to incubate them!

I knew I had a couple new layers, but I was getting doubtful I would get any doubles.
All my other doubles ended up as breakfast.

Sooooo I won't be doing them till I get back. By then, I should have enough Buff O eggs to fill my home made incubator with the 2 double's, and i'll have 36 Narraganset's in my JN48.

Double yolkers eh? Good luck with that. I have only heard of one success as the space issue, but I look forward to hearing about it!

I woke up to one Chocolate Orpington out and another pipped. Now I am just eagerly awaiting my Spangles and Gold laced to pip. Fingers crossed.

Already have eggs in the mail for next hatch. This will be my first time setting eggs that have been mailed. Any advice?
