My eggs went in to lock down I am going to just do it normally but next time I am going to defiantly give it a try![]()
When I was readying my incubator for lockdown I was putting the eggs back in and i'm sure i could hear chirping, but i might be going crazy, so getting back to the point Does anyone know if this is possible that they could but chirping this early?
Arrrh waiting!!! I'm sure this is going to be the best and worst part of the hatch!
Chicks "generally" hatch at or about day 21 they can go 2 days either way. If you are on day 19 it is not unusual to hear chirping inside as the chicks "internally pip" 12 to 24 hours before they start to hatch. When I was readying my incubator for lockdown I was putting the eggs back in and i'm sure i could hear chirping, but i might be going crazy, so getting back to the point Does anyone know if this is possible that they could but chirping this early?

I know they can be early sometimes, so I'm sure it's possible! I had to press my ear up against my incubator after reading your post, Jack! No peeps on my end, no wobbles either. I'm sure they're just resting... I can't wait to see the eggs start doing the hatching wobble dance!
Note: I have been calibrating my Janoel 48 incubators. The Janoel 12 seems exact on temperature reading, but the Janoel 48's seem off by a bit. I have a handful of those cheap aquarium thermometers from WalMart and then three electric ones. I've been averaging out all of the temps, and my Janoel 48's seem to run cooler than what is displayed. I actually had to set them all at 38 C or 38.2 C to get the inner temperature to be consistently 99.5 degrees!
I thought I had them correctly set, but the electric monitor I had been using is three degrees off and about fifteen percent off for humidity. =( Lesson learned. So I'm going to be keeping at least three thermometers in each incubator now. This could have played a factor in all of the early deaths that I had experienced with this clutch of shipped eggs?
