Fantastic thread! I am enjoying following along and learning a lot for you all.

My eggs went in to lock down I am going to just do it normally but next time I am going to defiantly give it a try

AWESOME, BACKYARDJACK! Let's hatch some chicks!

My humidity is at 65 percent. Temp is still at 99.5.

Your setup looks great, go with what you're comfortable with!
... Now THE REALLY REALLY HARD PART...waiting...

When I was readying my incubator for lockdown I was putting the eggs back in and i'm sure i could hear chirping, but i might be going crazy, so getting back to the point Does anyone know if this is possible that they could but chirping this early? :)

Arrrh waiting!!! I'm sure this is going to be the best and worst part of the hatch!

I know they can be early sometimes, so I'm sure it's possible! I had to press my ear up against my incubator after reading your post, Jack! No peeps on my end, no wobbles either. I'm sure they're just resting... I can't wait to see the eggs start doing the hatching wobble dance!

Note: I have been calibrating my Janoel 48 incubators. The Janoel 12 seems exact on temperature reading, but the Janoel 48's seem off by a bit. I have a handful of those cheap aquarium thermometers from WalMart and then three electric ones. I've been averaging out all of the temps, and my Janoel 48's seem to run cooler than what is displayed. I actually had to set them all at 38 C or 38.2 C to get the inner temperature to be consistently 99.5 degrees!

I thought I had them correctly set, but the electric monitor I had been using is three degrees off and about fifteen percent off for humidity. =( Lesson learned. So I'm going to be keeping at least three thermometers in each incubator now. This could have played a factor in all of the early deaths that I had experienced with this clutch of shipped eggs?

Chicks "generally" hatch at or about day 21 they can go 2 days either way. If you are on day 19 it is not unusual to hear chirping inside as the chicks "internally pip" 12 to 24 hours before they start to hatch.

This is exactly what my Janoel 48 incubator does. I reckon it played a big part in our almost failure at hatch #1, certainly the cause of it being so delayed. Wonder if they all do it - I have 2 more the same waiting at the post office for me to collect!
At least you have sorted it out now and got on top of it! Fingers crossed for a great hatch soon guys!

I have a janoel 42. It only has a temp reading, ao I bought a seperate hydgo and temp reader as well the other day. I am day 21 today and one chick hatched over 24 hours ago, but since then nothing, no pipping etc and I cant get the humidity over 40%!!! I have tried everything with this machine... At a total loss now, and I fear my chicks have died :( Any idea ow to calibrate this machine..

Well, there's still a good possibility that your other chicks are just taking their time. I had only one chick hatch on Day 21 of my batch of BCM. The others were over a day later... so I wouldn't start to worry until Day 23 or Day 24. At that point, I'd probably candle or water candle or both to see if I could detect any movement. That's just my opinion though, and I'm new at all of this. Are you counting the day you put the eggs into the incubator as Day 1, or are you starting on the day after? What are you doing to add humidity to your incubator? What are the temp readings on both monitors? Are they shipped eggs? Are you opening the incubator at all? Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Again, I've only had one chick hatch on Day 21. The rest have been later. There's still a BIG chance your eggs are doing the same. Also, at least in my case, I didn't see movement or hear ANY peeping until shortly after my first external pip. Then, it seemed that the chirping from the hatching chick set off a chain reaction. This is just my experience and thoughts. I would be interested to see what people with MUCH more experience have to say.
