Too funny Purpletie3, I had the exact same thing happen with one of my EE hens. She thought she was going to be smart and bypass having to step in the snow. So what does that silly girl do, She's on the pop door landing, she takes off flying as far as she can and then PLOP she's in the snow bank. I laughed so hard I about wet myself. She wouldn't move, I went about my chores thinking she would eventually figure that she was going to have to walk out of there. Oh no she wasnt, she stood as still as a statue and I finally gave in and rescued her. She never did that exit out of the pop door again, lol.I am with you...let those babies have some nice fresh air~ They will love it.
On a sidebar, I should have taken a picture of my EE rooster yesterday. I always open their outside hutch to the run and they stay inside. Who can blame them...it's 9 degrees. So, I go to get my tractor and start moving the snow drifts and i see the rooster in the run standing on top the snow bank. He didn't move...so, about 20 minutes later I walk in and lift him from the bank. I think he was scared of the snow and just froze not knowing what to do. Hysterical.
Found the crower too~ My sweet little yellow chick from my December HAL. I think I am going to have a lot of roosters on patrol here!
