January 2020 Hatch along

Here are the coffee cream and light brown next to each other in the incubator. You'll probably think I'm nuts, because there is hardly that much of a difference! But there it is. I'll be breeding with those who lay the lightest eggs.
There is a difference! They're your eggs and its totally ok to have a preference to breed and grow out what you want :jumpy:jumpy:jumpyIt's nice to follow your hatch-a-long!

I don't think you are nuts at all. A lot of us breed for colors, whether it's eggs or feathers.

I am actually trying to get colored egg layers in my flock and I just hatch chicks that are from olive egger roosters. It will take me a long time from now to see if they actually lay the olive eggs, but if they don't I will continue to try.

I have a funny story for you guys...

So I move my basket in the incubator to three different positions each day so that my eggs are turned thoroughly.

I went in there when I went to go check on the chicks and I realized that the basket was crooked. I never put the basket crooked in there.

I opened up the incubator and lifted up the basket...

There's a chick in it 😂😂😂

A silver one too!!!! It's a FC chick 😁

@FortCluck do you have pictures of the setup.
It's just one of these blue baskets over the eggs in my Farm Innovator 4250 and I roll it to different areas every day. I couldn't use my turner because I did a staggered hatch. This was my temporary solution for a few weeks.

No embryos are sticking and it's working because 1 just hatched. It was just an experiment I was doing.

Another one looks like it's going to hatch soon and the others look like they'll hatch a day or two from now.

Found this at our TSC and decided it's better than the heat bulb we were using. The chicks party all night long with the light.

Tonight was the first night using it and everyone is so quiet. It looks like I don't have any chicks because they're all under it. I had to put it on the second height setting because Clops clotheslines herself on it if she looking around with her bad eye.

They all love it so far!

Well the first chick was a bit early and got it's dumb ass up the wrong way, but made it with a little help eventually alone. It couldn't crack the shell cause the beak was at the wrong angle. As far as I can see there are a couple of external pips from the other eggs happening right now! :wee
