january hatch-a-long

My duck eggs have only been incubating since Monday evening, but I can shine through the window to check eggs, and duck eggs are so fun to candle. I did a quick check this morning and already see veins in at least 5 (of 22 total), and a bunch more have that orange hue. I'm already excited for a full candle session in a couple days! :D

First hopeful for 2019 are in the hatcher due to appear late tomorrow night. 21 eggs at the start 1 guinea fowl still in other incubator 12 don't look promising and 8 hopeful. Got my 3rd incubator yesterday, a janoel12 plugged in warming up going to put this weeks eggs in it and see if I get better success with eggs flat not upright. Got some new belgian duccles this week, millifluer and black mottle and have 1 egg from the millies already. My old red rooster must be infertile or lazy haha because all my own eggs so far never develop. The 8 eggs in the hatcher were given to me by a very kind lady at the local feed store :fl
