Sweet- really sorry about your hatch, that stinks! I have had eggs go over by a few days & finally I'd open the tops just a bit if I saw movement I'd put them back in the bator to let them finish hatching. But I always felt better 'knowing' they were still alive. I know you're not supposed to do thing like that- BUT I have and it seemed to help them...

By the way I candeled the rest of the silkies last night, I can see veins forming in all but 2, and I just couldn't tell with them so I am leaving them to check in a few more days. Only prob is in 3 of the ones forming they have detached air sacs. I was careful with them and put them back- maybe they will be ok?

I have had several chicks hatch that had detached aircells. The trick is to leave them upright in an egg carton (bottom cut out for air circulation)so that the aircell is always on the top.

Well the bator I have these in keeps them upright and just slowly rocks back & forth- it must have worked out because of those 3, last night 2 had reattached & still doing good- only 1 was bad, the air cell was in bubbles kind of all over. Went ahead & tossed that 1. I'll do a 1st time candle on the 6 lav orps tomorrow night.

I am worried about some other lav orp eggs I ordered that have not come in yet! The lady shipped them on Mon, it's now Sat. If they come in on Mon they will be 8 days old!!! Is there even a point in putting them in the bator by then? I normally let them sit over night b4 putting them in, if I did that they'd be 9 days old. Anyone ever had luck with eggs that old? I'd love some insight as to what I should do. I'm gonna be so ticked if they're just wasted.....

I haf some 7 days in the mail .... Last week got 3!!!
Did just let them sit for 10 hours NOT overnight as they were older by then...in room temp in carton then put them in upright in carton and didnt turn for a few days so dont give up

.By the way i bought more eggs same breeder thought the first wouldnt hatch..They were in the mail 5 days and i got 3 from them too but all assisted hatch GO FIGURE
So ... go ahead and set.Did you look at the tracking? How close are they?
8 days is a long time
Did you contact the lady see when they were shipped?Maybe she shipped late

It will say on tracking too GOOD LUCK!!

It does frustate you ...always.... what did i do wrong this time?
For one i thin k the lock humidty was too high 75. I usually do 70 but the leaking yolks?? no idea..
They look fine healthy cute even sticky but not too pretty or fluffy
I tried to clean them off warm water but you know how hard that is so still not too pretty. Will get them out tonite sometime to the brooder I guess Yes that depressed me as friankly i wanted the splash the most
Wouldnt have cared a lot if i got just one splash and thats it and that one was soso prety! Dang
. The black well as i said i have some but they are so beautiful and huge grown Part english so wide and fluffy.Of course i will be out of hatching eggs tomorrow my fingers are itching to buy MORE from her and try again for ONE MORE splash!! (slap fingers).

You sound like me Rox! I am already wanting to order more silkie eggs from the same lady as the ones I have now because the 1 I had to toss was the only splash she had sent- I want that splash!
And ty for advice on the older eggs hatching, gives me some hope

I did check and she shipped out last Mon. Lordy I hope somewhere along the way USPS didn't loose them!!! I can't blame the seller as she did what she was suppose to do...
