Just kidding, of course ... Heck, I don't know genetics. Maybe someone else will come along that knows the answer.

Well, it looks like I'm gonna go to Oklahoma in December 2010! I mapquested, and it is less than 300 miles, to Shawnee. I hope there are other shows within driving distance, that I can go to before that.

Thanks kathyinmo I really don't know much about showing at all. This was our first time. I had to try as he came from good stock (Bobbi Porto line) We bought him as a 3 week old chick from her. Actually the 2 we got were both cockerels. The other was Macgreggor. We also have another blue giant that is even larger than Indy. He didnt make the show as he had come color issues. I knew right from the start he was special The picture does not due him justice as he is very tall 29 inches so far. Luckily when we first got him we discovered a feed mill and started buying our food them them. Their layer is 17% and their chick starter is 20% so he had a really good start. I know alot of people feed special diets for shows but all we did was add some scratch to their feed. Washing him was an experience I will not forget but he was a good boy most of the time. If you are looking for good quality giants check out Bobbi's web page its Indigoegg.US.com She is a member here on BYC. The big blue giant you see on her page is Indy's grandfather. A sure sign of things to come. Micki

Micki,
How was your experience at the show, for a first timer? Did you talk to judges? Was it an APA event? I mean, did they use the point system I described (above)? How many Giants were in the show? Do tell ... what was it like ... showing for the first time? Scarey? Or, did they all make you comfortable?

Kathy and everyone did you hear about the Big Bird Classic in Pine Bluff, Ar on April 17th. More info on page 45 Buckeye thread.
