Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Too anyone going to Shawnee OK this weekend......... Will someone please take some Jersey Giant pics and post on BYC for me. I'm not going to be able to attend and it is the club national meet. Should be some good Giants there. THANKS !

I'm still fairly new to owning chickens and have a quick question regarding a couple of Jersey Giant girls I have. I already had an established group of 4 lt brahma girls when I purchased 2 JG pullets late summer and am wondering are the JGs typically quiet birds? I go out there to visit them all and my brahmas are always chirping, clucking, etc but not a peep from the Jersey girls. Any thoughts?

I find them to be the most quiet of all my birds, unless I'm holding them - then they growl at me. It's very undignified!

I don't think I've ever even heard one of them cackle after laying!

Oh mine cackle after laying. Sometimes it is so loud I think they are being attacked. I go running out there with my shoes half on gun in my hand nieghbors running for cover. Its embarrassing.

Does anyone have BBS JG's they would like to sell??
PLEASE......

Please on hatchery line eggs.
Or could you point me to someone with Nice JG's - eggs or chicks for sale?
Oh is there any one line that lays the largest eggs?

My JG hens are VERY quiet. You'd never know they laid an egg....they slip into the coop, lay, then slip right back out with nary a sound!

I'm selling a Splash cockerel hatched this summer, now 4 1/2 months old... he's not hatchery, he's from parents descended from Bobbi Porto's line of Giants. Actually, I just posted the auction on bidbird.com and stopped in here to "advertize" ...

Maybe I will get lucky and find him a new home.

Hi everyone. I just got my first Blue Jersey Giant this summer and from Bobbi Porto. I'm in Iowa and she shipped him here for me. I feel bad now getting him here for don't think he cares for this Iowa weather.

He is getting real big and so darn quiet. I have RIR's and White Rocks they are yapping all the time when I go out there. I just got rid of some of the RIR's for they picked on him and my top hats, just had to many. I keep a heat lamp in with him and he seems to like that. I just wonder if he'll ever crow?

He is real big and pretty, I have learned a lot from Bobbi. I'd like to maybe get some chicks next spring for I really like him. I'll have post a picture later. I hope this winter isn't to hard on him. Nice reading everyone's comments though, like to learn what I can about these.
