My poor little chicky is pecking at everything in the bator (his egg, the egg cartons, his brother's egg (if I plan on them to be boys- maybe then they will be girls!!! at least this way I'm not disapointed if they are boys!!

)

His brother's egg has had 1 little pip hole and no progress for a few hours. I'm hoping he will be out in the morning!! These 2 little eggs were about 1/3 being air cell when I candled for lockdown last night. I don't think he would have drown (Peepers was barely wet at hatch out), I am a little worried the membrane is dry though.

Peepers (they will all be called Peepers til they feather out) is still in the bator- I hate to put him in the brooder alone. But will pull him in the morning even if he is the only chick.

I'll get pics in tomorrow or Sat hopefully (have dinner plans tomorrow after work & 6 houses to go through Sat- house hunting is a pain!!!)

I moved 3 eggs to the hatcher tonight. They are marans eggs so it is hard to see any movement in them. I am really hoping to get a pip out of this batch. I started with 16. sigh.. shipped eggs. sigh again.....

I now have two babies. And, I'm thinking it was the noisy one all along. I flashed the light on it, it kicked big time, and I just thought it scared it. Came back in the room about 5 mins. later, and it was hatched. No sign of a pip! I thought I was hearing a loud one this morning, and assumed it was one that pipped first.
There is one pipped now, that has been since this afternoon. Leaves two more..hoping since tomorrow is the due date, that they will pip, and maybe even hatch tonight. I was seeing fluid moving around the bottom of the egg when I candled them before lockdown, so, I'm not getting too excited for those two. I'm afraid they will be met with the fluid when they pip internally. We'll see, you never know. But usually when I see that, they don't make it.

Oooh, Marans, good luck. Nice birds. Yep, hard to see. At least that is a good sign, you can't see, too dark in there, must be a baby in that/those dark eggs.

We currently rent, but Brent has to be able to punch in 30 mins or less after a call if he is needed in the OR the days he's on call. (Surgical Tech- not Dr) So we are buying a house near the hospital he just hired in at (about an hour away from here (and MY work!!)

Baby chicks, House hunting, some stupid party I have to go to tonight for Brent's work friend an hour & a half away, son's baseball games & practice (they go into playoffs next week

), dog training in SchH (tracking, OB & bite work training daily, plus weekly sessions at the center), pet sitting on the side- plus work full time (10-12 hr days not uncommon!!)

I don't like down time!!! I have a couple hours a night for me time (computer time), plus between check ins in the morning I can play on the computer!!!

I have a chick! One of the Splash French Marans is here!

Not sure that my Partridge Cochins are going to make it though. I started with 5 eggs (Black, Partridge, Barred) and now I am down to 2. When I went into lock down I wasn't convinced they were developing still, but I figured we would wait and see what happens.

Love all the pics and updates! I will keep you updated!

Here we go...I am doing the HAPPY DANCE! like I said in my other post Nancy (GERRY Farms ) sent me 13 eggs Black split to Lavender Orpingtons......12 hatched! I have NEVER had shipped eggs hatch this well.... NEVER ! I AM LUCKY IF I GET 30, 40 TO 50%....I would call this 99%... She does a super job packing them, but they were sent in the JULY heat, and it's hot in Tx. I live near Austin. That worried me. when I got them I unpacked them and put them in an egg turner on my kitchen table and plugged it in. I left them there turning for 24 hrs. then I carried the turner to the bator a still air Hova Bator.....and 21 days later my fuzzy Butts! 3 lav and the rest splits. I will buy from her again! I spoke with her this morning and we both believe the egg turner for 24 hrs. did the trick! She even said she was going to do this from now on before she sets her eggs.
