I think the two other Serama eggs are dead.

I have some more Serama eggs and some "crazy mixed eggs" going into lockdown soon, and then some Light Sussex.

Our chicks that hatched Monday/Tuesday have a new mommy!
One of our black orps wants to brood so I thought... what have we got to lose? We really don't have enough coops to hand raise this bunch and was going to put them up for sale. This morning I slipped a chick under her to see what would happen.
Chick snuggled under her quietly.
An hour later all is still going well so I placed the 4 FBCMs under. Left them food and water right in front of mama.
4 hours later all is well so I ask Him : Do you want to keep that splash orp chick? Mama splash orp keeled over in the last heat wave. Good hen, great layer, He says yes. Splash chick goes under her too.

So mama is happy. She is talking to them and mashing up the chick food for them. Hopefully they will bond to her and listen to her. She will integrate them into the flock properly and that's another headache gone:)
And we still have 5 EE chicks left to sell. Have to go thru my email list!

I am proud to annouce that we have a total of 5 chicks so far! The two beautiful Splashes that appeared yesterday are in the brooder with a Partridge

and a FBCM. Another FBCM hatched this afternoon. Still waiting to see if the last FBCM is going to join us. Not sure how long I should wait before calling it quits on that egg?! The last little partridge has not hatched yet either, but I thought there was something not right with the little guy last week.

Hope everyone else is having a great chat!

That is sooo COOL! Our Buff Orp takes care of all our babies when we put them with the rest of the flock! Isn't it amazing how awesome nature is! Congrats!
