July 29th Hatch along..anyone due for a hatch around then?

it's SOOOOOOOOOOO humid in MI right now (we don't have a/c) my bater went up to 55% humidity yesterday- and is holding (no water in bater).

I was trying to keep it at 40-45% for a bit (one batch is 4 days younger than the others- worry about lock down with those) before boosting the humidity up to 50% (normal humity kept for this bater- on this gage) for a few days before lockdown (65-70%)

I maybe pickingh up a window a/c unit for that room- keep it on the warm side- but cut the humity down.

Anyone have any advice?

Just teasing..that would be me...I hope you get all of your babies there safely..and then have fun loving on them. They cheep pretty loud for about a day after being shipped. Did that a couple of times. They need a day to settle down, but they do when they find out the ground beneath them isn't going to move any more! Have fun!

Wow, really? I guess I never realized how much humidity in an area made such a big difference in incubation! I live in a dry area..so, I can just leave the water down, I use very little humidity during incubaiton..around high 20's, low 30's, and then raise it to around 55 for lock down.

I'm not sure, but that sounds like a plan having the AC for that room...good idea..the things we do for our babies...you may want to go to the "You're a crazy Chicken person if you" thread. It's sooo funny, and I have not seen anyone mention going out and buying an AC for a room to hatch their babies.. like I said, the things that us crazy chicken lovin folks do for our chickens.

Good luck, and hopefully someone else here with humidity problems in their state will respond..even if they aren't hatching right now.

We are house hunting right now- if we end up at a place I can have chickens- the Tolbunts will stay with me- but right now the plan is they will move in with mom!!

I did get a window a/s- and the humidity is back at 40% today!!!

Hello all! I'd like to join, if it isn't too late. I started out with 12 eggs in the bator and 2 under my broody girls. One of those went in on 7/2 and the rest on 7/7. They are cochin & EE, plus 2 mystery eggs. At 7 days, 1 candled clear, so I tossed it. At 12 days, 5 of them had stopped developing. So, I still have 8 going strong, including the 2 under my broody sisters. So, I have 3 cochin, 3 EE and the 2 mystery eggs left.

Over the last week, I've been having problems with the humidity being too high, but it's down to 50% now. Also had a temperature spike one day. Went up to 110! Got it back down, but I have no idea what caused it. I'm just glad I didn't kill them all!

Welcome LaCenia....sounds like you went through what I did in the beginning of mine when it comes to losing some...only mine was because of how the P.O. handled my box.

I always tell newcomers to go back and check out my box, then the eggs I found inside...just because they looked good, I knew I probably wouldn't get many to be viable. Sure enough, I have 5 that are doing great, other than really crazy air sacs..which of course doesn't surprise me. I am really looking forward to these RIR's. I never thought I would ever say that I would have them in my back yard,, because I can't have many, but these are the deep mahogany color, and I've had reds before and now know what great birds they are. Beautiful, and lay great! They are sweet too..at least the ones I've had.

Eeroe..no chickens yet..a better reason for going to that site! Now you can say, you are a crazy chicken lady because you don't have any yet, but they are coming, but mom gets them until you move...and so on, only in your own words! Too cute.
So now it's good luck on the hatch, and good luck on the move!

Hey, are any of you going into lock down next week? I go into lock down with my Reds. Then two days later with my Nankins..I know the Nankins will hatch before day 21, very small, always do.

Then I have those barn yard mix that I have nooo idea what he gave to me, due to hatch the first. Pretty close in all..so will probably stay on here until they hatch. I am actually excited to see what pops out. I hope they aren't all black, but get some different colors..as he explained.

Then there's the surprise Turkey eggs..both fertile. Never hatched turkeys, but will see if I can do it..they will go longer. One is so huge, pretty sure it will take at least 29 days if not longer to hatch. Veins in both! Will have to sell them. Didn't ask for any of these eggs..let alone turkey eggs, but will make for a great experience. Baby turkeys..awww. My opinion...the only time you can say awwww...

Hi Cad, that's my hatch date for my reds. I'm thinking some may come a day early.

Game birds ey? I have a friend that loves the game birds. They are pretty all right!
