lol, I wouldn't try sleeping with anything small and fragile unless you know you're a completely solid sleeper. The only reason I can is because I know I take on the properties of a rock when I fall asleep and there's nothing in the world that makes me move. I also don't normally keep them out for more than an hour or so- not because they make a mess, but because I wake up worried they need to eat and drink overnight and they can't do that with me.
As for limitations... well, you can't stop them, so the best you get is being prepared. I just keep a box of tissues next to my bed and they sleep on one of those or in my hands. To be honest though, the peachicks have never made a mess outside of their brooder. Ping usually goes 1 time as soon as I take him out, and I dunno.... holds it after that or something because it's never an issue. I figure they just learn the difference- don't poo on mom and they get to come out and cuddle.
