Played Captain Save a Chick today... Went outside and noticed that one of my broody hens chicks was inside a bucket of water. I pulled it out and ran it to the brooder to warm up and dry off. Then I brought it back outside and told it to stop being stupid and drink from the water cups. Those buckets are gone tomorrow because I have more water cups coming.

:love I love the patterns! You're doing that thing where you make me want quail again! Lol
Hahaha wait till you see what comes out of the eggs from those quail. I am sure they will be nothing but the prettiest things ever. They honestly are my passion right now. I have stopped hatching chicks and I am working on my quail because I feel like my chicken flock is very colorful to where I want it for the spring when I hatch and sell again.

Thanks for this info. I currently use self filling waterers but I am planning to switch over to nipples. This makes me reconsider.
We have different waterers, but I really like the horizontal nipple waterers because they stay clean. For the main coop, I also have a self/filling duck waterer, which is super popular. However, I still keep the nipple waterer as a backup and because some birds prefer it. Oklahoma gets hot, so if it’s really hot, I’ll also put out a horse feed tub with electrolyte spiked water and a big chunk of ice. Some chickens will just stand in that tub. I do have some meatbird juveniles that just have the nipple waterers and seem to be doing ok with them, though I’ll also give them water tubs if it’s super hot (>100 F).

What does your self filling duck waterer look like?

I have 4 Biele pips and 3 pips from my flock eggs this morning. One of the Bieles had pipped late last night before I went to bed. Nervous pacing mom behavior has begun.
Honestly... me too! I am always so much like a mom to the eggs! When they pip it’s like mother mode turned on. Last hatching was my first time doing it and I slept beside the incubator just to make sure one of my ducklings made it! 😂

Two days left until hatching! Very excited but nervous too! I’ve never had so many that will hatch In one day! I have six that will hatch in two days and two in four! Let’s hope it all goes smoothly. I’ll post pics of the newborns when they hatch!
