Hmmm, maybe. I set the egg anyway so...we shall see. :jumpy
That happened on my last hatch too. When I was candling the eggs to check for cracks and such before setting I did not catch it, but after a couple of days I saw it floating in there like a blob of super dark ink and was like huh??
The eggs were from my own flock and I have a couple who have spots occasionally, so I just kept an eye on it and it eventually hatched out just fine.

This makes me hopeful because there are a few BCM like this in my 'bator now. I haven't tossed anything yet but I didn't count them as viable either. So, maybe they are. :fl

This is what happens when you put your house up for sale and pack up your 2 biggest incubators because you are just not going to hatch much if anything until you move. this mornings gathering.

I didn’t think I was going to be hatching chicks year round but ever since my March hatch I’ve been hatching away. Mostly because I want my own food (roosters) and then I sell the girls to cover raising them all 🤣

I’m impatiently waiting for this chick to hatch so I can give them to my broody hen but it is taking its sweet time. Normally I would ignore them til they all hatched.
That is what we have been doing.

i wish we got that many eggs

I haven’t posted in a while....but somehow 6 of my 12 shipped eggs have made it to lockdown....4 lavender Orpington and two Ameraucana. I’m shocked. I was pulling blood ring after blood ring around day 12.....but these 6 just kept going. I’ve got 5 silkie eggs in with them but aren’t due to hatch until later in july....I need to make a divider so that they don’t get bumped around when the others hatch. Praying these 6 shipped ones make it!

So let’s try this again....none of the supermarket eggs I set did anything (surprise surprise! 😂)

only 2/6 eggs that made it to lockdown hatched last week, but it was my first attempt. I was so nervous, and honestly I think I candled them too much etc. But now I know what to expect, I think I will be a little more calm.

I’m going to put the Bator somewhere different this time with hopefully a more stable temp. Setting 12 buff Orpington, 3 welsummer, and 3welsummer/Sussex mixed eggs tomorrow. None of them are shipped, as I’m able to collect them all.

we might need a bigger coop if this hatch goes much better than the last one! 🙈😂
