Have promised no less than 3 people pullets in autumn. I'm also concerned some of the 6 w/o pullets I just sold are in fact male 🙈 I promised to change them out for pullets free of charge if that's the case. Embarrassing... All in all I need MORE chicks! Fast!

Got 15 that's been cooking for 8 days, gonna add another 13 when the hens have delivered today's eggs. Lots of Silverrudd's Blue this time, that's gonna be popular with the green eggs.

I'm backed up like that on duckling orders. And of course, the ducks are all broody. And have eaten or broken 14 of the 16 fertile eggs I gave back to them. 🤣 I have three people waiting on these 16 eggs. lol... not looking good.

Quick day 18 lockdown update looks like same news still 9 eggs looking good. Took them out of their rocker. Hope to see some hatching soon.

You need to sell as straight run if you cannot provide pullets without at least 80% accuracy. I am just saying this from being on both sides of the fence. I got 4 pullet OE's and all but 1 were male... I was not happy at all because I had to rehome them and I fell in love with them. They were getting too rowdy.

Then I have sold chicks to people, I never promise genders because it is easier that way because you will not have complaints or loss of customers. Some people can really take it the wrong way and go overboard.

Plus you DO NOT want to take cockerels back that are from someone elses property! Very good chance you will introduce disease to your flock that they are not immune to and you can lose everything... I just know this from experience when I just got chicks from someone (I never buy chicks from breeders). I just lost half of my chicks in a matter of a week.

My you've all been busy in here! Can't believe it's almost July already, where has the time gone?

According to the seller my AC eggs will ship today. Going to add a couple of eggs from my silver Dorking girl when they get here, I'm curious what the chicks will look like from her and Angus. Firing up the incubator today so it's ready.

K, back to painting, my break is over. Have a great day everyone!

Are you painting the kitchen?

I can’t wait to see what your chicks look like!

Yes'm painting my kitchen. We did just the cabinets about 10 years ago before we moved in, this time it's cabinets and walls. The living room, hallway and enclosed patio will be next.

I've never messed up selling sexed pullets before. I usually sell at 8+weeks but these were a little younger. Out of 5 there's 2 I'm worried about. I told the lady to send me pic's of them in a couple of weeks, and that I'd replace them. I sell maybe 30 pullets a year, I don't have a big business or anything.

If I get a cockerel back they're going straight into the pot and then into the dogs...

Just be careful... word of mouth is everything when it comes to customers. Make sure you right the wrongs.

I advertised and sold duck eggs a few years ago, shipped by mail. Ugh, so stressful! A few eggs cracked, one complained about lack of fertility, one messed up their incubation and blamed me (like, it's your machine  ) and everyone wanted the eggs sent preferably yesterday. Luckily no angry customers though, they were all polite and almost all satisfied. (even the one who messed up the incubation, she bought adults from me instead)

Never again... Only selling youngsters/adults to selected people now.
