I have an early crower! Lol! I was out walking through the chicken pen and heard this weird screetching noise coming from the coop. I thought maybe my silkie who was laying was freaking out about something so went to investigate. It was not her...but actually one of the 6 week old Goldneck d'Uccles.

ETA: Still trying to figure out if the other d'Uccle (you can see at the end of the video) is Male or Female. It's comb has been just a hair smaller and a little lighter for a couple weeks now...but seems pretty big for a female to me.
It's a living squeaky toy! :love

We have a Broody Silkie on day 7 of sitting on 6, and 20 in the incubator on day 5, Going to be a busy July! Picture from June 16th Hatch........ IMG_2014.JPG

That sounds like someone with smokers cough :lau

Eggs are set! I’m really struggling with temps in the incubator. I’m not sure which thermometer to believe! Both the cheap digital ones are reading high 38.2/38.5, but the glass one that I calibrated with ice water (when calibrated with ice, it was .5* high), is right at 38, meaning the temp should be 37.5. I tend to believe that the temps are a little high since the eggs that successfully hatched were 1 day early...but they were small eggs.

I have it set to 37.3 on the incubator to get these temps.

would you leave it as is or adjust it down a bit in case the digital ones are more accurate than I think?

On the topic of the hardware cloth shortage, it must be a thing. Saw this vid this evening.

My few remaining duck eggs are looking good. Got an internal pipper.
Crazy! Panic hoarding combined with many people getting into self sufficiency and buying backyard animals I guess?
Or are people finding worse and worse substitutes in the big Toilet Paper Crisis?

I love that! I have a seven d’uccle that almost 6/7 weeks old I can’t wait to hear that I think only one of mine is a boy.
