I love them!!! I love seeing people hatching more than one month then showing chicks that they hatched previously! Here are some of my homegrown babies I hatched out in May.
I don't remember if you were using DE... someone said they were. It isn't effective enough to trust for killing parasites. I don't like poisons but sometimes one needs them. I haven't had this problem and don't know the best remedies, but searching or asking in the emergencies etc topic will get you some good info.
Sooooo cute!!!! My broody has hatched out two cute little fluff balls so far!!! I was so surprised when I went to check on her this afternoon. I didn’t think they would hatch until tomorrow or Thursday lolYeah...I had been using DE as a preventative measure. The hens were re-homed with us about 8 weeks ago, so I’m assuming there was a previous undetected/untreated issue bc our coop is brand new and we don’t have any other birds!!
it was beautiful today so when mama was outside, I took out all the straw and fumigatedthe coop with a perimythrin (sp?) spray and closed it up for about an hour, then aired it out in the sun put all new straw in.
ive also got some spray coming for the chicks, and invermectin drops for mama. So we are for sure nipping it in the bud!! Lice freak me out 🕷
annnnnnd...while I was up there I went ahead and gave her all the chicks. I’ll just treat the whole flock. She’s such a good mama so far, so might as well let her do all the work
