July Hatch-a-Long (including 4th of July hatch-a-long)

Pretty sure both eggs I dropped, that the chicks are dead. As of this morning, the one was still moving, but by this afternoon it had stopped and the blood vessels were pretty well gone. Was extra careful candling today.

I think it's a great question! These are Silverudd's Blues. Previously know as the Isbar. I should get in the habit of using their proper name. My instinct is always to write Isbar so I thought I was doing pretty good remembering Silverudd's. Now I'll have to remember to start adding the Blue to it.

Why are they no longer called isbar? I thought that might be what you were talking about but I only know them as Isbar. I have some that are 11 days old now from Greenfire Farms.

The first order I placed that just hatched was from foxfirepapillons (I have had really good luck with her eggs - had great development and hatch rates with both sets of eggs I got from her and they are always packaged well). This second batch that I just ordered is from blue-ribbon_farms .

Read the first page of this thread. It explains it better than I ever could. They're beautiful little birds. I'm excited to be hatching more. I may have found my latest breed to dabble in.

I just got a set of Creme Legbar eggs from foxfire as well... She is very serious about her eggs and the treatment of her customers.

I hatched some chicks in February from a Foxfire Poultry "potluck" lot on eBay. I hatched 1 Cream Legbar hen. I debated buying more CCL for this hatch but decided to stick with the Silverudd's Blues/Isbar. I think you can spot the CCL pullet in this group shot. She's a sweetheart and should be laying any day now.

Yeah I notice that! All mine I got from TSC actually don’t have vaulted skulls believe it or not.

I was worried about hydrocephalus for a minute before I remembered that a lot of them have it. xD
I think I’d prefer they didn’t, for sure... :S

6 so far. 3 Silverudd's Blue (Isbar) and 3 Marans. 2 Marans and 3 Silverudd's Blue are pipped! I'm hoping all the Marans have leg feathers. That'll make identification much easier.

7th chick hatched! Another Silverudd's Blue I think. I'm already loosing track!

Edit: No pips on 55 Flowery eggs yet. I had trouble with those late quitting last time. Hoping for just 1 pullet from the 4 eggs that made it to lockdown.
