July Hatch-A-Long

I am getting a order from Murray next week does that count ? 5 lakenvelder 3 silver leghorn. 3 red leghorn. 3 brown leghorns. 5 Dominique. 5 RIR. 5 white leghorn. 1 buff orp. 5 red sex links. I am excited !

I have my first Pip, zip and out for July. These are out of the mystery eggs I got. The breeds I could get from these eggs are - Buff Orp, RIR, Black Australorp, Olive Egger, Black Copper Maran. Considering how dark this chick is and that is is out of a darker brown egg I am thinking either a BA or a BCM. I have several others that should be out today and tomorrow.

Well last night was interesting for me! I ordered 6+ malay eggs off the Internet and got 7 total for 60.00! Candle them a week into it and I only had 3 viable ;-( 2 pipped out a day early yesterday which I was beyond excited about my inlaws think I'm a complete nut job! Anywho I ended up having to help them hatch and the two are doin fairly well! Just moved them to the boorder and added 4 Yokohama 3 day old chicks in with them to teach them what to do! The last viable egg I seen moving yesterday about all day I had high hopes that he would hatch sometime last night or at least pip through! This morning I went to move the first chick out and seen he hadn't don't anything so I decided it was time to intervene even thought they were not due today I knew the other two viable eggs had pipped over 24 hours and he needed to be doing something to live (at least make an air hole) so I went ahead and made a little pip for him and when I looked in he was dead ;-( Im so upset I paid a fortune (well not a fortune but kinda basically 60.00 for 2 chicks that's a fortune for eggs! I did talk with a guy who sold these day old chicks 100.00 each 0.0 and the adults 350.00 each! I guess that's why I've been so nervous over this hatch I am not gonna spend 700.00 on two chickens or 200.00 for 2 chicks to be shipped to me and
More than likely die! So I really wanted this hatch to go well! I'm just praying these guys do well and I end up with a pair! Odds are against me tho with only two! Hey at least I got two I can't complain to much! I guess we may try this again in the future!

ANd I have a Ginger red OEGB out. Several eggs are rocking. Do I really need to leave the bator and get other things done? Like the new brooder built.....

We use storage bins in my bedroom. My husband is building one on wheels that is 4 ft long by 2 1/2 ft wide by 6 ft 4 inches tall. If we like the look he will build more of them.


Next month should be rabbit hutches......

I put my duck eggs in lock down last night. This morning I woke up to a baby duckling sitting in the incubator! I didn't expect anything until Saturday the 5th! I am so excited.. I will try and get some pictures later..

Here you all are.

Have some chicks due in a couple of days. Then, as I said on my last post in the June hatch along..I am done until next yr. May even be done forever after years of hatching. Will be different all right. I will miss baby chicks. I'm getting too old to keep this up though. Love those little fuzzy butts.
