YUP! Looks like a self, too. Trying to figure out the genetics on that.

Possible fathers were a self-blue and a black and white pied, both Pekin mixes (not that this matters). I figure the mother is probably my Buff as she's quite dark chocolate.

Blue is co-dominant, right? So only one gene needed to show. At least in Muscovies but these are not scovies.

So, the self-blue didn't pass along that gene to the self-buff, and I got a buff duckling. I think. I need to read up more on mallard-derived duck genetics.

A keet hatched under my broodies! New territory!
I don’t think anybody’s taking care of “her” yet—a lavender baby —she’s already dry, but rather frail.

Another duckling hatched, brown again. And one more pipped egg plus an internal pip!

Next week it's chicken eggs' turn.
