June hatch-a-long!

Pics
Drip unscented or birthday candle wax over the whole cracked area, including every side crack. You're going to lose that egg anyway so it's worth a try. My cracked egg made it to lockdown but didn't hatch. Because of the crack it had already lost extra air and had a huge air cell. My pinhole egg quit early. It didn't hurt to try.

I cleaned out and disinfected my incubator this afternoon and now I get to focus on the chicks. At first they just stayed under the mama heating pad, but now they're venturing out and they learned to eat and drink. They seem very content and happy. Look at that little crashed out one with his legs sticking out.

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm definitely not expecting it to hatch but you're right, it's worth a try. I hope she is able to hatch the 3 good day 18 eggs. She's been such a good broody so far and I would hate for her to not get any babies out of this. I have another duck who is thinking about going broody. I'm planning on giving her the five day 6 eggs once she's fully committed.

So cute! I love the little baby laying on its side!

I hope you guys have better luck than me. My chicken ate one of them yesterday and today i checked and heard one of the chicks in one of its eggs peeping so i hope this one makes it out okay

I kind of figured from hatching, but I'm even more sure now, lol. Pretty sure I've got 7 frizzles and 3 smooth Seramas. The wing feathers are insane on some of them lol.

Also, I've been keeping an eye on temperment and all and I'm thinking I've got at least 3 boys. That would leave 7 females. I am hoping to build a small coop/run village of sorts with a central run that's a bit bigger than the others so I can alternate which group gets to be out in the big run each day, but they'll have room in their own run to move around as I want the coops on stilts. Hoping I won't have to get rid of any of them, especially because there are no Serama breeders anywhere near me (closest one, where I got these, is 3 hour drive from me) and it'd be difficult to add to my flock as soon as I'd like.

One chick I am almost 100% positive is a boy. It has to have the best spots, puts the others in their places, is the bravest, and keeps a watchful eye out. Not to mention its comb already has a red tinge creeping up it (though I know sometimes females can have red combs earlier than others). This one is my full yellow one with a hint of gray in the feathers. I'm wondering if it will have some blue characteristics as some pictures from the breeder I got them from she had ones she called blues and the chicks were yellow with a gray tinge to the feathers and they grew up to have beautiful gray/blue feathers.

Anyway, I'm just rambling.
