June hatch-a-long!

Pics
Good job, Lifeiseasy!

Well, I locked down last night and this morning I see a pip. I posted elsewhere to ask if that pip location is okay, but that probably wasn't necessary. I'm just a nervous nellie all of the sudden. Humidity in my incubator is 63%. That's as high as I can get it without adding sponges.

The new baby, whom I suspect is a Gold Sex Link cross and male (if the sex linking genetics are still there), is now in a separated spot in the brooder so he can dry. He is also on a soft fuzzy pad that holds heat pretty well so he’s comfortable. The other seven are happily eating and drinking in the other end of the brooder and three more eggs are in the bator but not pipped so I believe they may have died. I’m going to wait another day or so and maybe poke small holes in them later to see what’s going on and make sure none are already shrink wrapped and help them if I can.

Chick number 8 is fluffed.... on the top. His butt is still very wet, like I can feel it wet and whatever the liquid is is still on my finger when I move it away. He also pooped (?) clear liquid out. This baby has been “hatched” since 11:30 and it’s already 5. Any suggestions on what to do with the wet butt or should I leave it? I already tried wiping it with a paper towel but he didn’t like that and it wasn’t working too well because of the wiggling. I’m going to have to name this chick “Trouble”.

The remaining three had died. One shrink wrapped really early and had prominent veins, another just kinda died and was sloshing around and the last one was rotten. I had barely gotten a tiny hole in it when I smelled it so they immediately went to the trashcan outside :sick. I have eight happy little fuzzbutts though and it’s a lot better than I was thinking I would have there for a while.
