June Hatch A Long

Pics
Yes they are all still breathing and chirping. I think chick 12 was chirping a little too much encouragement and that’s why number 13 decided to come out too soon. It was Laid May 13 one of the last few eggs to go be taken for hatching. I culled the chick.

Thank you all for your support the last attempt to escape its yolk and shell that ruptured the yolk also pulled out some intestine and started some bleeding. I know it won’t always be perfect, but I still find culling babies hard. I don’t have the experience to try and fix I sides on the outside of a chick, and couldn’t let it suffer.
:hugs I’m so sorry they didn’t make it. You did everything you could, and I don’t think there’s much experience that could have helped there. :(

I'm so sorry you had to do that! :hugs This was no fault of yours and you tried everything you could.

I’ve been following your posts. Just wanted to say that I’m so sorry that you had to cull your chick! Glad to see that most of your others are doing well.

Oh wow, I wasn’t getting notifications and finally got caught up. Exciting times! I stole one egg to candle from under my broody to candle. When I tap the shell with my fingernail it moves! I am so excited and in love. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to give away all my hatchlings. I’ve never hatched before and I’m growing attached. About 11 days to go...

Oh no I'm so sorry. I have a hard time with that too. I can do it if I absolutely have to but I feel horrible afterwards.

Sooo exciting!! Who says you have to give them away? I said I was only going to add 4 bitties to my flock this year....I have 9 out there already and I'm definitely keeping some from this hatch too. lol!
