June Hatch A Long

Pics
14 hours no progress, no large viewing on the inner membrane I could see. I need to get this chick in a good place before I can sleep... is it mal positioned?View attachment 1804170

head is under right wing? I think it’s getting too tired, so I’ve assisted to here, because I’m worried I shrink wrapped it in dealing with the chick with the unabsorbed yolk...

It looks positioned properly but that little baby looks ready to come out! Did you manage to help it? I know that was a while ago.
In an odd case where I wasn't able to see why the chick stopped unzipped for several hours, I took a very hot paper towel to hold the chick while I worked on it so it didn't get cold and slowly chipped away at the shell outside of both membranes. Then as I slowly pulled back in the outer membrane the chick started to wiggle out so I put it back in the incubator and it popped right out in its own. It was half zipped as well. Mine was probably too big for the shell. I hope your baby is doing well!

She has been great at sitting til yesterday she just decided to set in a different nest. I went out tonight to mark the eggs she has now and she tore into me. I have never had a broody hen that is this aggressive.

I marked all 10 eggs like a Soldier.View attachment 1804096 I think I will be more prepared tomorrow, but now she has me gun-shy lol.

:eek:Wow! I've never had a broody even peck me! That looks painful!
I usually pick my broodies up and tuck them under my arm while I check the eggs. :lau They don't seem to mind, though they do make velociraptors sounds, lol.

Never get a Muscovy broody then I had one and she would jump and rake down my whole arm if I came anywhere near her nest of babies eggs or hatched lol. No one messed with them once they hatched though.

I had no idea! All of my broodies have been chickens. English Orpingtons, Easter Egger, Blue Laced Wyandotte, even a White Leghorn that broke the rules of her non-broody breed standard, lol. They've all be sweet...so far! lol

I decided to take the day off. This hatching stuff is stressful enough can't do it from 32 miles away. :caf
On the bright side, your ducklings certainly look like they'll make an appearance today! :love

My Orps spoiled me for my Muscovy broodies. The duck Mommas are fierce and the Daddies protect the babies just as much. I had a neighbors dog go through my coop one year and the Drake held off the dog while the Momma went and hid with the babies. When I got out there because of the commotion he was just trying to go after the Momma and she was backing him into the corner by the coop away from her babies. He was pretty tore up. Their nails are super sharp.

The two X kids are definitely ready membrane is dark no more veining. I put more coconut oil on the membrane hoping it would help them to get out. They weren't happy I didn't help more lol.

I just woke up and looked and said to myself how the heck is she gonna go to work?!?

Their debut is just around the corner!!!

Nope can't do it called out. I couldn't sleep last night because X was being very loud about the fact that he wanted out now, but he's still chewing and yawning which is supposed to mean that he has yolk left to absorb right? Or maybe I just need more coffee.
