Don't mind the Lego I use them to prevent the eggs to come to close to the hot air

I’m a personal trainer and this quote life. 😂😂😂👌

Question...so our light Brahma chicks hatched on about 12 hours into day 20, and as of 7 am this morning we are on day 22. (40 hours since the first two hatched).

there were a few eggs rocking and moving but they seem to have stopped and no sign of pips or anything. 😕

At what point do I do anything but wait? I’m playing chirping noises near the incubator periodically, and humidity and temp has been stable, only dropping if I’d had to open up to replenish the paper towels to keep it at 65%.

I’ve mentioned before that the first 2 eggs were smaller, but I’m just wondering if it could make this much of a difference to hatch times?

After 48 hours from the hatch date I start checking for movement and assist

Assisting when they haven’t hatched can give you a perfectly healthy chick or one that isn’t going to thrive... it’s a toss up, but I think it’s worth it.

Sorry to hear about your back pain. I feel ya tough! I'm only 45 and have the worst hip pain. Went to the chiropractor and found out my right hip is out of alignment. Sometimes it gets to the point I can't stand for very long, and my right leg tingles all the time. It's at it's worst in the morning after I have slept all night. I feel like a little old lady getting out of bed in the morning. Hope it feels better soon.

Confession: there were still no pips, so I opened the incubator just long enough to shine the candling light in, without moving the eggs or taking them out. All I can see is a big black mass and the air cells, no visible veins or movement. Can’t hear any chirping. Is that what should be happening for day 22? Or should I still be able to see them moving?

they aren’t rocking or anything anymore like they were yesterday.

Im a nervous wreck. 😭

Were your temps low for an extended period of time possibly? That can delay hatch.
What did you keep your humidity at for the first 18 days? To not see any internal pips with fully developed chicks usually means something with temp or early humidity.

humidity was 45-50%, but I dropped it to 30 around day 14 because the air cells were a little small.

Two chicks hatched on day 20 (39 hours ago) but those eggs were smaller than the rest that are left in there. So maybe my temps were just a little low in some parts? 🤷‍♀️ 🤔

first time incubating. It’s a roller coaster of emotions. trying not to give up hope it’s just hard not knowing what’s going on in there!
