June Hatch a Long

So two quail have hatched! My son is so excited his eggs are fertile and making babies! He loves them dearly. Hope they are both girls since he lost a girl to a chicken snake last week.

Crazychic,

I feel for you big time.

I had a miserable second hatching -- put 36 eggs in, 5 hatched -- I really don't know if I had a temp spike or not. three of the hatched failed to thrive and died. I also put the eggs in the egg cartons on day 18 and I am wondering if that affected the hatching rate. It is day 19 and I don't see any pipping or rocking. The first hatching started on day 19

If I get a second failure with the third hatching, I am going to give up on the Lil Giant Incubator and go with one that does it all.

i cant get the humidity higher than 35 to 40 lots of water in there. can it be that i have the bator in my ac room. should i transfer it to the garage?

I just want to be watching it and am afraid that the temp. or humidity might not be right and me not know. so i wanted to have them with me at all times. yet i dont want to loose my babies all together for not doing it right

so i carried my little gient into my bathroom

Try a clean sponge or paper towels in warm to hat water. That is what I do and the humidity goes up. I put the sponge under a vent hole where I can add hot water to it with a straw. Hope this helps.

Just removed the heater/wafer thermostat from my hovabator (styrofoam incubator) and replaced it with a digital fan/heater/thermostat I ordered online, with plans for it to be my hatcher come Thursday. So far ir is running flawlessly. Suddenly my hovabator is reliable!
