June Hatch a Long

Did you watch the video? You can see the air cells lines on my shells...lol  That is from 7 days, 14 days, then 18 days. Humidity ran as high as 31 and as low as 21. I am taking notes with this last bunch. The Cream legbars, ameracaunas and silkies. Pretty sure this guys head roo a RIR is infertile. This chick and the one I can see are both dark. His other roo is a barred rock. First batch of 35 eggs only 12 were fertile. Second batch of 24 only 12 were fertile.

Yea too cool I thought you were allready hatching dry at least partially dry 30-35% during incubation seems to be about perfect for most breeds I have only had issues with over evaporation one time in the last few years and that was due to it being in the height of the dry season here and my ambient humidity being to low I corrected it with addition of moisture to the bator and still had a good hatch but the following set I used a single burner hot plate and a tea kettle to bring up the room humidity and all settled down my bator room is a converted walk in closet ( the wife was happy about that one ) so controlong the conditions are easy for me ,,,, shoot me some pics of that new bator

This is a very touchy subject. Every saddle air cell I have had to assist. I would keep humidity stable and listen for internal pipping. Candle and then tap the egg and listen for sound. That is when they will start peeping. If you hear that I would Candle and pip a small hole and see where the beak is and where it has pipped. You need to make a small hole in the aircell at top. Then candle and see if you can see any movement. Most saddle air cells can pip the membrane but not the egg, and the chick will suffocate and die inside the egg.

I would keep bator closed till tomorrow, then candle to see if you can see an internal pip. Do you know what that looks like? And then listen for peeping. You need to shine your light into the air cell, even the saddle part and see if you can see the internal pip. If not, I would open a larger size hole in the TOP of the air cell till you can see inside, and see if you can see the chick moving inside the membrane. Make sure while you are doing this you keep the egg wrapped in a warm wet paper towel to keep it moist. If you see movement, keep the egg wrapped in the towel and place back in the bator and WAIT.

In a way, but not totally, I think mine works better in mid 20's. I got over educated! LOL I will get pics this weekend of the one in progress. Hubby is talking about taking the "stuff" out of it and just work on a bigger one.....ugggggh

well my May hatch didnt go too well so here is to another round. setting tonight at 9pm

No I don't know what I'm looking for, this is my first time. I candled today and can see the air sack but I can't see a beak in it. To be honist I dont know what it should look like ?

[/quote lol it's a LIVING project lol I have a few of those I still have not completed the breeding coop and pen I started in may the coop is done and at the house sitting outside the carport with two Broodys and a dozen or so chicks In it so it's now wel at least temporarily a broody box lol I can thank you know who for that one as far as the humidity goes I put up that air cell graphic for Dolfi did you get it ? It will be a big help to you when you go totaly dry and really start to use moisture as a tool to control the chick growth in the shell during incubation as for me I have to adjust for my altitude I'm sitting well over a mile high so it changes temps and humidity quite a bit but I have it down these days all I have to do now is get the wife to quit burning the cinnamon rolls in the oven lol she always says well I never burned them before and I never changed anything ! Well she never baked at altitude either lol we have been up here for two years now and it is radically different than down below ! Lol
