June Hatch a Long

Look at all the babies!! So cute! I tried to make my dad take his bators home with him, but he said I might need them...I've already been looking for more eggs!! We go on vacation in a couple weeks tho, can't have that... so maybe this fall...after I see what I will end up with roo,hen wise! I met a guy that raises welsummers locally, he ended up being a good friend of my parents back when...so maybe I can buy a few of those from him...anyone here have any reason why this chick and my newly hatched chicks shouldn't form a union with some of those chicks?! Haha..it's been a long week!!
. Lol no I can't see any reason welsummers are a great breed and if you can get them local more the better !

WAIT, a couple of them look like chipmunks!!!! Still having PTS from the chipmunk episode!
In one of my first hatches, which was many years ago, My daughter named the one that lookied like a chipmunk, "Chickmunk".

Update, (I bought a stronger flashlight today, because I couldn't see very clearly when I candled the eggs the last few times. The stronger light really helped me see in there better.)
6 Swedish Flower Hens, all moving. (Started with 7, one lost to infertility.)
2 Columbian Wyandottes that had been under my broody hen for 2 weeks. I had some issues with a broken egg, and uncovered eggs for assorted reasons, She switched nesting boxes, and that did it for me. I took the cool eggs and added them to the 'bator. Both appear to be moving tonight, I couldn't tell last night). (Started with 4, one lost to breakage, one to infertility or quit early.)
1 RIR, Heritage. (Started with 3. One appeared to be infertile, the other appears to have started but quit very early.)

So 9 eggs due to hatch in about 8 to 9 days, (The Columbian Wyandottes should be a few days earlier, if they hatch at all. I'm expecting them to be delayed because they cooled significantly at least twice that I know of.)

I'm still deciding on if I'm going to let the broody hen raise the chicks or not. I have to find a safe place to do that.

I'm telling u jac I'm gonna get me one of them huge smart phones to fix this problem lol

Smart phone are too smart for their own good...you type one thing, but it thinks you are wrong.

I was typing "MO" and it kept changing it to "NO" I guess the phone thought I needed to yell NO instead of typing my abbreviated state.

I could hear the call of the chick for the first time! The hole is getting bigger and the sac is visibly ripped now so I assume the chick is acclimating to O2 now.

Wow congrats to all that hatched and good luck to those on lockdown and

to those that had chicks not make it.

I have received my last batch of eggs this morning so all eggs are now in the incubator. The lady I bought this last batch of eggs sent me 3 extra because they were arrived a day late

I should have had 21 eggs, 2 broke plus 3 extra and now I have 22.

Good luck all.
Excited for you! Look forward to hearing about you babies in 21 or 22 days.

Good news/Bad news. One egg pipped. Problem is it's about half way down from the air sac and the small end of the egg. Candled and tapped but no chirp. I went upstairs to get my phone to take a pic and more of the shell was broken off so I guess the chick is working to get out. I guess I just wait?
Waiting for the pics to show up in my email.

.) no others as of last check. Will be gone most of tomorrow so maybe I'll come home to ALOT of babies. Or just a few shipped/breeder chicks. Hopefully I get what I need so I can forget getting eggs elsewhere. I have 25 BR pullets in coop. Only barred males I have are BSL. SO not able to make a pure line YET. But one day.......
