June Hatch a Long

Dolfi, your hatch date is the same as mine --- June 20th is 21 days. You need to raise your humidity in your incubator today and lock your incubator down. This is my third hatch and I am still learning. My first hatch, I got 12 out of 24, should have 18. On the second hatch, I did things very different on day 18 and likely killed the developing chicks. This time, I am going back to what I did earlier with the first Hatch. I am using a "little Giant" incubator. I will be locating a sponge where I will be putting it in something more porous that what I did the last time.

Wishing us both well with this week's hatching.

so then if i incubate at the end of the week ill have three hatching dates for one month
Lets say you start collecting on Monday. You collect every day and place the eggs in a carton. On Saturday or Sunday or whenever you get enough eggs, you place them in the incubator. They will all have the same hatch day. If you have eggs in there now. I would wait. Staggered hatches are hard to do.

Candled today, and all looks good with 7 days to go. Lockdown Thurs eve! 7 in my incubator and 2 under a broody. The 2 the broody has started out with air cells on the side even though they were not shipped or handled roughly. Air cells were not detached, very fixed in that position, and didn't change with settling the eggs pointy end down. I figured if anyone could hatch them it would be her! Candling showed the cells still on the side, but normal development, veining, chick movement, etc. We will see how hatch goes!

exactly so if my hen lay every other day and i only have three that would leave me with 11 eggs to incubate in that 7 days... but i would have a bigger hatching rate.

sorry but did i get it

oh and i have to tilt three times a day the eggs

what i mean is that if i collect and have one week i will have to hatch very little eggs and if i want more i would have to incubate them in diferent weeks
Like a staggered hatching. Collect for one week put in incubator. That is set 1. Collect another week. Incubate. Hatch two. Collect incubate hatch three. Lock down hatch one and so forth.

I do staggered hatches. I have two incubators. A cabinet and a styro. So it is easier to do staggered when you have two. I collect for a few days then put them in bator. I have 6-12 hatching almost every week. I need to find some local eggs to put in tomorrow. I know I am horrible.
Well I got my shipped eggs in today. Out of 8 two were broke. One with a horrible air cell and a few with a little bad air cells. Ya know when the box says fragile you would think they would Handel it better. Stinks that two wre broken. Knowing my luck those were the two hens. Lol
