June Hatch a Long

Another update; Ava ( my avatar and broody #2) successfully hatched her chick! Unlike my incubator ones, hers is already fluffy and bright-eyed. Amazing! It is one of the totally blonde Cream Legbar males. For better or for worse, I moved MIC out under Ava so she won't have a lone chick. She incubated MIC almost until the end anyhow, until my other broody stole the egg (then proceeded to squish it!). She tucked MIC right under, so hopefully all goes well! I still have the most faith in a broody when it comes to raising chicks :)
I will try for a pic in a few hours...don't want to bug her again so soon!

WONDERFUL!!!! I'm going to try to stick a few of these chicks "when" they hatch under my broody and see how it goes! I know I can't hold a candle to mother nature

Oh man... my humidity was low (40's) so I followed the instructions here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/incubation-cheat-sheet

omg.... horrible idea. I just went and check on them and humidity was up to 90%!!! I don't have any pips so I opened it up and pulled out all of the paper towels I had added. Hopefully the humidity will get lower now :/ Those directions must be for places with zero humidity :(

I don't have any pips yet either, getting very worried now. I thought by now I would see some movement or pips as it is now just over 24 hours since lockdown. I hope all is well and the eggs are fine and it is just me being anxious.

When should the rocking / pips start, on which day?

My last hatch had humidity 90% so don't panic too much. All of mine hatched besides the ones I marked as duds during candling (which I opened up at the end to be sure and none of them ever started developing).
Actually my humidity and heat were really high the whole time and I still had a 50% hatch rate on mail order eggs from ebay.
The ones I have in there now I kept right between 99 & 100 the whole time with humidity around 30 and local eggs & it's looking like my first hatch is going to end up being more successful!

Fingers crossed for you, I hope it works out. How many days in are you?

Mine always seem to start on day 20... the earliest the night of 19. I had them all hatch last time on day 20 & 21. But I think depending on the temp they incubated at will determine when it will all start.
