JUNE - JULY HATCH-ALONG!!!!!!!

Well, under the broody that I mentioned yesterday, we had 4 chicks hatch overnight, 3 is black, which I don't know if they are black australorp or black copper maran yet, and one splash copper maran, still 3 eggs to go, and one of the black chicks got trampled by its MEAN mom, and now both of its legs are broken, I don't think its gonna make it cause its completely crippled. But I'm just glad to finally have atleast something close to a successful hatch!

Oh my goodness! That sounds terrible!
I wonder if placing it in a mug with a sling and little leg holes would help? It's one of the ways I've seen people treating severe splay leg and slipped tendons, so maybe?

Took a few pictures of the 3 remaining chicks from my July hatch and forgot to turn on the flash on my camera, lol. Left is the early Olive Egger (Luna Lovegood), center is a Crested Cream Legbar (Sunny Side Up), and right is a Whiting True Blue (Shirley Temple). These are the 3 we decided to keep for the grow out! Fingers crossed I don't have to rehome roosters this time! lol

I love how different from each other those three are! Shirley Temple is so elegant! I think that black chicks are often so awkward and crow like until they get they gorgeous big girl feathers! Cute little legbar too!

One of my mama hens broke the tip of her beak off fighting with another hen.I know it will grow back. But is there anything I should do for her? I already have to feed her out of my hand.
Oh my! Always something, isn’t it!!! I don’t know anything about beak injuries but hope she does well! Sounds like you already have a good handle on what to expect...

Aww! Poor thing! She was already having a rough time. I've heard wetting crumbles makes it easier for them to eat.

My babies are growing up to fast.

So, I don't know if anyone can help me, but I am adding a BLRW roo to one of my pens, and the roo that is in there hasn't messed with him at all, and he's like 7 mos old, but the hens are messing him up. Is there anything I can do to fix that, and the 2 hens that are the meanest to him are the 2 I want to breed with him.

If you just added him, they are getting the pecking order straight. Just give it time.
