Just curious? Who names all their chickens and who doesn't?

I only have 6. They are all named. I have a black cochin named Socks, 2 black sex links, Soot and Black Betty, and 3 unknowns named Red or Berta, Poop Face and Happy Feet.

I have 30 laying chickens including 6 roos. All of them are named and I can tell them all apart. A few are tougher to tell and I have to look at toes to be sure. They have all gotten names in different ways. Our names have nothing to do with sex. Larry, Moe and Curly are all hens that look similar. Einstein is a BCW who was the smartest. Tilly started life as Attila but had a good attitude change. Speedy is the roo who lives up to his name. When my son brings in eggs I get the list of who laid what and who is working on an egg now. If they were meat birds they wouldn't have names but these are part of our family. It does make it harder to lose or rehome when they are named but they are all individuals to us.

I am guilty of naming the most memorable, either good or bad. Like in the bunch destined for freezer camp, I have only named one - Cujo - he is a mean bird. THen I have King Strut; Ike; Mama (for obvious reasons!) Spice Girl; Penny; Henny; Etta; Myrtle; Sissy; Priscilla; Clarence 1; Clarence 2; Clarence 3; Clarence 4; and Clarence 5 - they are Bantam Buff Cochin roos who are cocky little buggers named after my 95 year old cocky little FIL; Wally; Molly; Tucker (he used to have wry neck); Blondie; Bucky (ok several of them are called that because they are Buckeyes) and in the ducks I have Drake (how obvious!); Kathy (she waddles like a woman at church named Kathy) Duffy Duck; Huey; and Louise. I have about 70 more chickens and five more ducks that aren't named either. Not until they do something to warrant a name!

We name some of ours- we only have 28 now (down from 103 or so).

If they are memorable for some reason they get a name. The Buff Orpingtons I really don't want to name with the exception of our little one-eyed one. Her name is Butterscotch.

We have Rooey and Ruby (two eldest silkies).
Autumn is our only Partridge Rock.
The 4 black chickens...never mind naming them, can't tell them apart.
The two Welsummers, I never have named.
Our EEs I haven't named either- the older ones. The younger ones are named Erika and Smoky.


Etc.....!!!

None of my chickens or ducks are named. I don't name any poultry. The showgirl hen is called "The showgirl hen", the crested cayuga is called "Crested cayuga"....

All of mine are named. I've just always named my chickens. They all have very distinct personalities and really are pets to me. And my rule is "If ya name 'em you can't eat 'em"

edited to add that once I got 12 day old New Hampshire Reds. I got colored leg bands for them and named them all immediately, complete with a list of what color leg band was who. Maybe something IS wrong with me.

I only name if I have to for some reason pay special attention to.

* sickness, broodieness (is it 'ie' or 'y'??), etc

It is hard enough to come up with names for the rabbits whom we have to name in order to keep good breeding records! ahh

Mine all technically have names. As far as my BO's go though, I honestly can't tell who is who, except for Pumpkin who has a messed up comb from the rooster getting a little rough. So, I either call them the girls, or whichever one jumps on my lap is Ruby, although it's not always the same one, lol. Maybe I should get them diff colored bracelets (leg bands).
