There are such different temperaments between the breeds of geese. I tend to keep the more laid back, quiet geese...dewlap toulouse and sebastopol and I can tell you that they will only make noise when a predator enters the area, they will try to run, too. But, they do not attack anything.
I had toulouse in the past because they were given to my by a friend who had predator problems and the toulouse were not aggressive enough to protect themselves. They cannot move fast enough to get away from most fox or raccoons and from my experience, they will just be attacked and killed themselves.
Someone told me that they kept guineas because they frightened away predators, but my neighbors are too close for that much noise. I'd be very interested to find out if you can train toulouse geese to attack other animals. Mine were way too mild mannered for that and my dewlap toulouse are more likely to die from a heart attack from trying to escape before the predators could get them, they are such cowards.
But, that's why I chose them and love them so much.
