Just out of curiosity...

Ah sorry I misunderstood, do you have eggs to be incubated in both nests is that what you mean?
If so how many eggs, can you not put both lots together or is there too many?

Oh no... I mean I could get some.
Yep.
I move her with fake eggs at night and make sure she's settled in tight...
...then I give her fresh fertile eggs and mark the calendar.

When you separate her, do you keep her where the flock can still see her, or do you have to reintroduce her?

Usually it is best if the they can see each other if separated.
If for example you serrated her in the garage out of sight of the flock for say a couple of weeks, then you put her back in the flock, they don't see her as an old friend but a new girl then the pecking order starts.
So for example she was say number 2 or 3 in the pecking order, now she will be bullied in to being the bottom of the order, so it's best if they can see each other, because then she is still there so to speak.

They can see her.
I put up a temporary wall that sections off a 4x6' area of the coop,
it has a people door, a pop door, and a separate run....oh, and a floor nest.
I take the wall down about a week after hatch, there is definitely a 're-introduction' aspect as broody has to reestablish her place in the pecking order....it can be vicious, but usually of short duration. She and her chicks shelter and sleep in the floor nest and I set up a creep feed area so the chicks can eat in peace.

Awesome! That is sorta what I did when I got some new chicks. I put up a temporary wall so that they had an area that was 4x8 all to themselves. That was my original flock could see my new babies... and once my new babies were close in size to my original flock I started letting them all interact together. There was a lil pecking going on by the older girls, just to let the young ones know where they are in the pecking order, but it went really well.

So basically I just would do like I did when I introduced my babies last year to the flock. I put up a temporary wall in the run and gave the babies a 4x8 area.

I dont know that I will ever let her hatch a clutch.... I do have a rooster, but he lives at my dad's hobby farm. But I could, if I decided to, get some fertilized eggs. I'd really love a Crested Cream Legbar. So those would be the eggs I would get... or a clutch of double laced Barnevelders lol
