It's INSANE!!! We have a tradition here on Sundays in the Fall...after church we have some kind of stew or soup. It is costing me some major $$$$ just for the ingredients! I use to be able to get all the ingredients for under $15. Nope! Today at the store, it cost me over $60!!!! I cannot believe how expensive food has gotten!!!

What on earth are you putting into your soup??

Amazing last week on same day, gas varied by $.50 per gallon depending upon which town in Indiana I was at. Supply and Demand it is........

Around here it is mainly the DH and 2 DD's that uses mayo on sandwiches, myself and the other DD use Ranch dressing on our sandwiches. Yummy!

But I must say that a dollop of mayo in a bowl of hot pintos is awesome.

i buy hellmans with canola oil!! you can only imagine how expensive that is!! but it is good for you heart. i dont eat mayo unless it is in a recipe. but hubby does and heart problems run on his side of the family. so anything i can do to help him stay heathly i will. i make his sandwiches so there is not alot of mayo that goes on them and luckily the jar last AWHILE. but if i let him make the sandwhiches! watch out the mayo is so thick and that defeats the purpose of being healthy with the canola!

why is canola oil itself so expensive? i know everything is, but darn it is ridiculous!

the only grocery stores we have here are superone, mac's, kroger and walmart! nothing as cheap as what some of you have mentioned.

Welp, I tried the Mayo recipe and the first batch was a disaster. I put it all in my food processor and turned it on - don't try that method!

So I thought maybe I could salvage it by putting it in my VitaMix. Don't try that either!

So, I cleaned up everything and started from scratch again. This time putting the egg in my food processor FIRST. Mixing it up some THEN drizzling the oil in (as mentioned). Sure enough... started thickening right up after about 30 seconds - 1 minute. It tastes GREAT. I will tweak it some to my tastes but overall I'm so pleased! I will not buy mayo again!! More money saved.

Now to try that homemade laundry soap...

If for some reason I can't get Duke's, I buy Hellman's, but my family complains. Here's the Duke's link: http://www.dukesmayo.com/ Great deviled egg recipes and many other recipes as well, all using mayo.

LOL, check out the stories section. Many loyal Duke's fans out there. I thought my brother and myself were the only one's growing up who used to make and eat Duke's mayo sandwiches, and I still love a cheese sandwich with a piece of Kraft cheese and Dukes mayo, served with a bowl of hot chili. Homegrown sliced tomato W/Duke mayo and lot's of black pepper sandwiches, and banana sandwiches made with Duke's.

Oh, they make a great Tartar Sauce too.

Knowing Miss Prissy, she probably manufactures it for Duke.

I'm expecting some day to walk into the dairy section and see Miss Prissy Yogurt.
