Think I read somewhere that, because of the amount of spamming going on, members must be members for a period of time before they're able to post pics. Can't swear to it, but I think that's the deal.

Oh, and

There's a post on how to post pics...I think it's the the FAQ section. You need to upload them to Photobucket (a pic/video sharing sites) and then link them from there, you can't just plop them from desktop to this site.

200 babies is a lot of work! I'm only getting 3 or 4 in the coming months and that seems like a lot of work, lol. Oh how I wish I lived in an area where I could have that many though....I have space envy now!

With a little luck , you will have some helpful people around! I cannot even imagine caring for 200 babies!! Should be fun......best of luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I have been reading posts here for a while and have learned alot!

BTW I uploaded my pics to the website first, then tried copying and pasting the images, then hit submit, and twice I got an error message saying I can't because I'm a new member. Oh well.

Furthermore, I've raised chickens for a few years now, 2 years ago I bought about 100 RIR's from a local guy in Siler City, after about 5 months I was gettiing about 24 eggs a day. I had a frig full of eggs that I was selling to a local mexican market for a dollar a dozen. Since then I let my chicken free range, (have about 15 acres) and my chickens started disappearing, some by local predators, my dogs, some I just knocked off and put in my freezer, and some I sold. So I am figuring that most of these new birds will be roosters. So I'll raise some for meat for myself, keep whatever hens I may have gotten, and sell the rest either to neighbors, the auction, tractor supply, or craigslist.

Just knocked off 12 Cornish Crosses, and put them in my freezer, and I have 9 black meat birds that I bought from Ideal about 3 months ago. Anyone know what breed they might be?

I have spent a good amount of money on chickens which most went to the local wildlife, but now I'm only raising them for meat and eggs for us, and to sell the rest.

Anyone else been through this?

The restriction about posting pics is because we had a massive spam attack on Jan 1 so we had to put a small roadblock in place, sorry! Welcome to BYC! You'll be able to post pics soon.

I went to Mt. Healthy's site and I see they are still selling their Easter Eggers as "Araucana/Ameraucanas". Wish they'd listen to the breeders about truth in advertising, sheesh! Anyway, congrats on your big order getting there with few losses! Watch them for the first week, though--shipping stress can result in a few more losses before that time frame is over. And pasty butt can be an issue with shipped chicks, but if you put unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar in the waterer, the kind with "the mother" (sediment), about a teaspoon to a quart or a tablespoon to a gallon, that seems to help some.
