ROFFLLL ~ A woman I respect deeply said this "The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache." Marjorie Pay Hinckley
So despite the seriousness of the whole thing ~ I'm ROFFLLL!!

Well said. What you are suggesting reminds me of "It's a Wonderful Life." That American attitude of helping others (rather than profiting from them) flew out the window circa 1980. Too bad.
It just makes me shake my head to see people with religious quotes in their sigs, or who I know to be religious folks, laughing at a joke that basically rips on the poor. There a word to describe this, but I'll probably get this thread locked if I use it, and I'm not usually one to make waves on the forum. So I'll leave you all with some statements. If these don't apply to you personally, I don't expect you to be offended. Just something to think about around the holidays.
"I'll help, but only when it's convenient for me."
"I'll help, but only if it affects my own family or my children."
"I'll help, but only if I don't have to go into THAT neighborhood."
"I'll help, but only if the people I'm helping look like me."
"I'll help, but only if you join my church." (I go to church, so I'm not attacking church-goers. Some people are like this.)
"I'll help, but only if I'm recognized or rewarded somehow."
Geezs chicken lady. Did you not watch and listen to the garbage that Mr. Obama was spewing. This is NOT a joke to rip the poor, far from it. This is a satire on the promises that candidates use to get one to vote for them. The old taking from the rich and give to the rest of the population is as old as one can get, yet ONCE again it worked !! This is NOT dissing the poor, if anything this is dissing the people that are stupid enough or gullible enough to fall for this.
Every election period it is the same thing. Promise the moon and then when the candidate gets into office it is always the same thing. They just can not get that pormise filled. This is as old as politics itself. People just never seem to learn. So you see, you are a bit off on this and if you feel this serious about any thing remote to your casuse then you need to form your opinions about religion, politics and general human traits with less hostile and bible thumping tones. This only turns people off.
