Maybe a sliding chain lock? Although if he's figured out a doorknob, that won't keep him long! Especially as big as he's been getting! He'll just stand on his hind legs and be gone...Oh boy. Have fun!

Years ago, when my husband and I first got together and before we were married, we lived in an A frame with a sliding glass door. We had a german shepherd who would use his nose to open the door and go out when ever he wanted to so we had to keep it locked. My DH, then BF, said if he would just shut the darn door after him, he wouldn't mind so much!! I have also seen dogs open doors with those handles you just push down, instead of twist. The are smart little buggars!

Long time ago we had an AmStaff female that made us put baby safe latches on all out cabinets. Clever girl!

I'm disabled, so when Jax was quite young we taught him to pick things up that I drop, help me up if I fall and take things to "Daddy" or me when asked to.
The other night I was busy in the kitchen when DH asked me to bring him a few string cheese sticks. I started to hand them to Jax when DH said "don't you dare!".
One of Jax's favorite things is for me to hand him the treat bag and tell him "take to Daddy!". The other day I did this and he was doing just fine carrying them until he decided to shake the bag as he ran. The bag broke and treats went everywhere. Jax won't eat unless my DH tells him it's okay to, but Kane was like JACKPOT!!!
Another thing we do - we like to close the office door at night to keep the cats out. First we have to find the cats to make sure we don't accidently lock them in the office. It's a hassle. Since Jax has known how to seek for quite some time, we've trained him to seek the cats, making it much easier to locate them.
I'm afraid I'm to blame for letting Kane slide. My usual defense is that he's just a baby, a really big baby, but a baby still.
