Did you rotate the eggs?

I have almost a similar incubator and I have been moving my eggs every couple days. I have my incubator set to 100.5, but some spots are 99 and some are 101 so I just moved the eggs every couple days so that all of them get the same amount of time in those different temperatures.

I only lost 3 of the eggs that I had in the incubator and those weren't even mine, they were the ones from the local farm.

It honestly might not even be your fault why they didn't make it. It could have been shipping... I wish you were closer because I would give you a bunch of my fertile eggs!

I tried to but I’ve only done it once so far. I wanted to move them every 3-4 days but didn’t until day 5 and then haven’t again yet

I should have moved them more often and/or candled daily and checked them

And oh wow that’s awesome!! The farm ones probably weren’t the best to begin with so probably nothing you did. That’s great some are developing though and that your eggs from your birds are doing so well!!

And thank you! That makes sense. I’m sure that’s probably part of it but it just sucks and I feel like it’s at least partially my fault cause they were developing so well at first.

Maybe I didn’t rest them enough before putting them in too. Who knows.

Maybe I should have rotated them more. Or heck, maybe left them alone. They were developing fine until I moved them.

But then again I also never did a full candle until last night, only a few, so maybe they quit way early and I didn’t know.

And aww that’s so sweet!!! I wish I was closer too haha

Although I’d feel bad just taking them. I’d pay you.

If any hatch, I may keep a rooster and try breeding myself haha although with the older birds in the flock that may not be a great idea but maybe I’ll make a separate flock haha

I hope I get at least one to hatch and don’t wind up with none! That would be so depressing!!

But honestly if none hatch, I might just be done with hatching haha

Or else stick to broodies or something.

If you are allowed to have a rooster I would keep one! I know a lot of people say that roosters are useless or whatnot, but having them definitely works out because you can hatch your own chick!

You could sell your fertile eggs for hatching, you can sell the chicks that you hatch... You could make some money, not a ton but enough to pay for your chickens feed.

I'm honestly thinking about selling some chicks in the spring at chicken swaps. I will only bring a certain amount and sell them as straight run. I want to know what these ones will look like first so that I can take pictures and I can kind of put them in a portfolio to show people what they are buying. I don't even know how much I would sell them for, probably cheaper than tractor supply so that I sell out fast

Don't beat yourself up over the ones that didn't make it, It honestly probably wasn't even your fault.

I blame myself for the nine fully developed chicks that didn't hatch my first hatch. I think that my humidity was too high! This time I did dry and only add 20 mL of water every 3ish days. I've been at 37% this whole time and the development is so different. The air cells look great. Last time my air cells were quite small and I think that's why the chicks didn't survive, that's what happens when there's too much humidity.

Uploading pics from the candle now. Should probably pull more but want to be positive before I do. Pulled 3 for now. 3, 4, and 12. Might go back and pull 8.

Okay and I’m about to post more that better show the big black blob I’m talking about. A few of them like half the egg is a big black blob. Maybe the embryo? Hopefully.

Yeah if there is a big black blob in it, it's the chick... My eggs are literally 3/4 of a black blob! I'll try to take pictures tonight of mine. I'll make DH (dumb, dear, doofus, darling... That D stands for a lot some days )take the pic while I candle. We looked last night and the beagle wanted to eat the eggs! She's obsessed with scrambled eggs.
