Turns out the same farm also has Aussies and they have an Aussie video and a comparison video. Here's all 3.

Apparently the comparison is with ACD not Aussie. Haven't watched it yet but seems good. And more likeable. The Aussie lady I feel like kinda oversold the whole working aspect and dominance thing and I feel like didn't really know the history cause I thought they were developed on American ranches? So idk. That annoyed me lol and how she kept being like they're not good pets. I feel like the BC is more crazy than the Aussie lol

Anyway, I think I like this girl better lol

Well he is English. :p

Lol

I will watch these later for sure.

Curious to know what you think.

Oh and cattle dogs scare me. I've seen too many aggressive ones. :th

Yeah, theres definitely a lot of aggressive ones. I think they can be great dogs though with the right handler/owner. Sadly most people aren't the right owner. I think they're pretty strong minded, independent dogs, even more so than Aussies, and a lot of people don't realize it. Protective too. That's a bad combination. It's not even so much about being alpha, no matter what method you use, there need to be clear, consistent rules and they need to know what they are and that they are expected to follow them at all times. And then of course EXERCISE. They need a lot of exercise and perhaps even more importantly, a job and/or mental stimulation. Of course, these things should be common place for every dog owner, not just ACDs, but especially for them. Anyway, sadly most owners do NOT provide that. They just get a cute puppy and think they can just like maybe teach it to sit or whatever and walk around the block or play fetch a couple times. They don't think they need to socialize or enroll in a training class or give it way more exercise. Speaking of which, I forgot to mention that I think socialization and genetics are also huge factors in that. Because they are such protective dogs, early socialization is a MUST. Otherwise you end up with a scared or overly aggressive dog. Which is also where rules come into play cause you can teach appropriate guest interactions. And bad genetics meaning I think a lot come from pet stores or BYBs or shelters with no prior training or socialization and no experience to fix the issues, etc. As opposed to one from a good breeder. Not necessarily show, in fact that might be a bad idea for a working breed, but even a working breeder. Someone who at least cares about temperament and preferably health. But I also think underexercised and understimulated dogs become bored, anxious, etc. Which could then manifest into excessive barking, destructive behaviors, and yes even aggression. Too many just get locked in a crate all day while the owner's work or maybe walked around the block, have the ball thrown a few times, maybe teach a few tricks. Bored out of their minds. And I've seen several fat ones too. :( I think some people also keep them in the city and they're definitely not an apartment dog. Long story short, I think inappropriate people own them and don't know how to handle them, causing issues, but I do not think that is the dog's fault. Granted, a Golden Retriever or Lab or something are owned by inexperienced people all the time and aren't necessarily innately aggressive but they're also not used as working dogs as much anymore and also aren't as protective. And besides being protective, they're also just bred to have a more aggressive touch than a BC or Aussie. They have to be to handle aggressive bulls or else they would get trampled. They were bred to work cattle as opposed to sheep which I guess does lead to some aggressive tendencies if mismanaged and not nipped in the bud. AKA that may be appropriate for cattle but it is not appropriate for people, children, dogs, cats, etc. But this is all just my theory. I've never actually owned one or met one but read and watched a lot. And sorry for the novel LOL

I like your novels. :pop They are a challenging breed for sure.

Aw thanks! And yeah for sure. And that's part of why I'm not getting one even though I'd thought about it. They're just a little bit too tough from what I've seen and I don't want to worry about having to do extra socialization and training than normal to be sure they won't be aggressive or nervous or anything. Whereas the Aussies I think are hopefully a little bit more sociable and friendly already. Still a little protective or reserved but hopefully would be fine.

Btw thinking of taking classes here when I get a dog but choosing one is so hard :hit

Originally was thinking of all the Dog Mall's puppy series but idk. That's expensive lol but worth it.

But now I'm thinking I might do all the puppy, adult, and CGC classes here. Like puppy preschool (before they're old enough for Kindergarten cause i don't want to wait 2 weeks to start training), puppy kindergarten 1 + 2, good manners, and CGC. And then possibly the sniff it, training games, neurobics, or out and about just for fun.

And this one also has an out and about type thing but it's waterfront wandering. The waterfront is very busy too so it's good.

I would have to do the agility training at the Dog Mall though because Pawsitively doesn't teach competitive agility, just for fun, and Sirius doesn't teach agility at all. So I guess maybe I could take some classes from each place lol idk.
