before they might start fighting? The cockerel is a 14 week old Silver Lakenvelder. He is now crowing and trying his best to mate with some of the girls. The roo is a 14 month old Silver Laced Wyandotte. Obviously he is much bigger than the little cockerel. There are 12 girls in the run with the boys but not all of them are at mating age yet. So far there haven't been any fights between the boys. Should I separate them or just hope for the best and see what happens?
I am going to be giving this a try actually. Picking up a year old roo today to habitate with my 3 month old girls. After he's separaed out for about a month and I get back from vacation, I am supposed to be getting a pair of (I believe they will be about 8 weeks then) ameracuanas so I'll be interested to see how the two boys get along once they're older (of course they'll be separated til the Ameracuanas are older and bigger) and how all three stages of birds get along.
