Keeping Fish

I don't know how well you can see this koi. He has a blue stripe and a yellow stripe on his side. I have never seen a koi this color. There were four of them at our local Wal~Mart.

We had some that looked a lot like your blue one but I passed it up. I am afraid the blue will turn black as it ages. I have had gold colors on Koi turn orange but it is still a pretty fish.

The blue will often fade to gray or darken to black as the fish mature. It is a beautiful koi though. How much is it? It may be worth the money if only to experiment. Never heard of one staying blue, but who knows? :/

I think about $5 is all it would cost. But, I don't have a pond, and I would never put a koi on an aquarium.

Oh, I thought you were asking for reference for your pond. I believe koi can be kept in very large aquariums, but do much better in ponds. I have always kept mine outside, but I believe it can be done. Imagine cleaning an aquarium that size...we're talking a thousand gallons or so...

Leaf, he might just be starting the nest. As long as he is fed good food and can see a female, he should get to it. When the nest is all collected in one area and looks nice and sturdy(as sturdy as a clump of bubbles can be), and the female shows that she's ready, you can try introducing them.
