Keeping Fish

Oh, I see... What about Orlando? Can anyone tell me if it's okay to put him back? I don't want the water levels to hurt him, but I'm not sure if leaving him in the treatment tank is doing more harm to him than if he were to be put back.

Is there a proper filter in the treatment tank? If not, he's better off in the main tank.

Sorry, I should've said treatment bowl... He's in a little bowl with a pinch of epsom salt and a little floating artificial plant. I do water changes so there likely aren't any problems with the water quality. I think I'll just put him back, as the ammonia is down to "safe." Nitrite isn't as bad for the fish as ammonia, right? The levels will probably go down soon, but in the meantime is there anything I can do to speed up the conversion from nitrites to nitrates?

If you have a gravel bottom to the tank, you can use a gravel cleaner to suck up the nasty bio burden in the rocks. With less bio burden, aka nitrates, the bacteria have less work to do and it should help the water conditions. Beware though, you should change the water afterwards, as all the muck will fill the water and make it nasty. :p

Is there such thing as a gravel cleaner that can suck up all the nastiness settled between the gravel without removing too much water along with it? Sort of like an underwater vacuum for ten gallon tanks(like a tiny pool vacuum)?
I just feel like sharing... after doing lots of research on betta colors and such, I think that dumbo OHM(over halfmoon) yellow salamander males; dumbo HMPK(halfmoon plakat) salamander males; and HM lilacs are extremely beautiful colors with matching finnage. I'm definitely going to try to achieve these colors, and I really look forward to it!

My mom chose this baby crowntail female, a potential green and red multicolor

And here is Monroe's backup plan, a huge boy with bigger tail halves and coloring that's a bit different than his

I have a baby blue crown in one of my bowls right now. Need to clean those soon. You are going to breed the large male I assume? Beautiful colors.

:)If one of the males passes, or if any of them produce undesired qualities in their fry, I'll still have the other. Though in order to breed my big boy, I think I should find a big female as well! I'd love to see more pictures of your bettas btw. Hopefully one of my males can help achieve the female halfmoon that you want:)
