It’s supposed to be record breaking cold tomorrow and Thursday here in Ohio. I’m saying high of -6 (Fahrenheit) with windchill as low as -50. Yay! (That was sarcasm btw lol) Yesterday evening we brought the chickens and ducks in the garage to be safe. It’s about 30 degrees warmer in the garage and they are out of the wind. We know that they are super cold hardy but we’d rather play it safe and we were glad we brought them in as this morning one of our neighbors came over to make sure our flock was alright bc they had 2 chickens freeze and die so they wanted to warn us to be careful.
So I Just thought I’d share some pictures and maybe help others if they have a small flock and that they need in the garage.

(I’ll just post pics of the chickens right now I’m going to have lunch and then take care of the ducks so I’ll post pics of the duckies later)

Here they were yesterday before I turned off the garage light:

I put chicken fencing over top and tied one end with rope so I could use it as a “hinge” then put a part of the play pen on top just in case they had any funny ideas:

You can see the bar I put through the play pen. It’s thin but they use it. It’s behind penny’s butt:

Here are some pictures I took today before I gave them fresh water and food:

Like I said I’m going to go eat and then take care of the ducks so I’ll share some pics of them later!

Just took care of the ducks. Here is a picture of what they are housed in (their duckling play pen):
The ducks love to escape (I remember last year) so we put 2 old screens and another part of the play pen on top to prevent them. I just added some chickens fencing (like the chickens have) on but it’s not pictured here,

Here are the boys and part of The messy area that they have. Ducks will be ducks!

I scooped out some wet hay (about half. I’ll do the other half tomorrow):

The boys say hello! Pecky has the greener bill and Carli has the lighter bill:
